From every PC - various OSes - network printer - stops printing - says "Tray 3 empty" - doesn't start printing again until tray 3 is filled.

In the paper setup on the printer there is an option called use requested tray. Options are exclusively which means printer will only print from that tray, even if there is another tray with identical paper. The other option is first which will use requested tray first and a matching tray second in case paper runs out.

I do have a follow up question. This worked on my PC, thank you! Will I have to do this on everyone's? No a great big deal, 11 other workstations in a small network.

Ignore my last message! I did the set up on the front of the printer, not through my printer preferences on my PC. This should work for everyone. Thanks again.
