Microsoft made me update Windows 10 to version 2004. Since then my printer works fine in the network from my iPhone, but not from my laptop. I tried to delete the printer, but now I cannot add it again. I cannot get a reinstallation to work either.

I managed to delete the whole f%&ing f%&k, and now when its properly reinstalled I still receive an error while trying to print. I have run HP Scan Doctor and Microsofts trouble shooter as well. In HP Smart the printer is ready. It is still working fine to print from my iPhone. There is something wrong with the Windows update and the compatibility with the printer. Maybe HP needs to provide a new driver?

@Martina10 I don't wish to add to your troubles but could you may be share the complete error messages via an image or just write it down here, so we know what we are dealing with? And then we can help you accordingly!

Also, since the issue is related to the Windows 10 drivers, try the below steps in the meantime:

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.

If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:

If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.

   NOTE:

Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.

See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

Dear Riddle

I found a checklist when I searched for how to get the printer online. It turned out that I had WSD port checked, but since it did not work, the next step was to add a new port, standard TCP/IP. When I figured out how to change to the new port it worked!

Can I ask you what the difference is between WSD and Standard TCP/IP? I don't need a long explanation, just if there is some consequence when I am not using WSD?

Best regards

Martina

@Martina10 That's awesome,

And here's all you need to know about the difference: WSD is a feature on windows PC that automatically detects the other network devices, if PC and printer are on the same network, printer gets added to the PC via WSD port', While TCP/IP is a port created with designated IP address and you can manually control it's settings.
