MFP M225dw stuck on initialization

Product Name: MFP M225dw
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Help.  This initialization mobius is confounding.  It has happened intermittently for a long time but usually fixes itself after awhile.  Now it seems permanent. Running Windows 10 64bit on a Dell XPS machine, printer connected wirelessly.

Re: MFP M225dw stuck on initialization

Hi there

Check into the printing Queue make sure that it´s empty (devices and printer , right click on printing , see whats printing)

They may be a job that the printer cannot process and therefore it goes to that state

Re: MFP M225dw stuck on initialization

The printer will not initialize from an OFF condition to an ON condition.  Theres nothing in the printer queue.  I have a second printer that is working fine (Lexmark inkjet).

Re: MFP M225dw stuck on initialization

Alternative NVRAM/Cold Reset:

1. Power down the printer

2. Press and hold the right arrow button on the navigational bar

  a. This button will flash for a moment when the printer boots up

3. Power on the printer

4. Release the left hand corner once the "Permanent Storage Init" message appears.

Please note that this will bring the printer back to factory settings but then again at this moment you at least want to return to the ready screen and bypass the initializing screen

Okay.  I assumed you meant to say hold left corner and right arrow then press ON switch, wait for Permanent Storage Init. then release both buttons.  If so, the screen is now stuck on language selection, but the touchpad does not function.  Did I miss a step?

Re: MFP M225dw stuck on initialization

Hello

The fact that the printer it´s on the language selections means that the reset was done succesfully but know if seems like you have 2 situations either the printer it´s stuck now on that menu or you have a hardware problem with the display

from here it will be importat that you reboot the printer and see if the control panel will response after that

No luck - it goes back to the language selection display and will not progress.  Just so you know, the touchscreen worked earlier before the NVRAM procedure.

The problem since the begging seems to be a formatter issue since the printer it´s not able to finish the booting sequence now it seems like the display it´s not working so it´s either one or the other

Re: MFP M225dw stuck on initialization

Okay.  I called HP.  My warranty expired Oct 1, 2015.  Their solution is to send me a reconditioned printer (same model) for $270.  Why is that the best solution?  The one I have is unrepairable? Is it reasonable to assume that HP builds a product that is designed to fail after 19 months?  I believe I am done buying HP products and will advise my friends to avoid these printers like the plague.

Re: MFP M225dw stuck on initialization

I´m sorry to hear that

Sometimes this does happen and actions that we recommend over here are always intented to get you back and running but we know that sometimes we have this scenarios that we cannot do anymore and we have to go with the warranty on printers (if any )
