Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!  I had been successfully using tray 1 in the M477fdn printer for a couple of weeks with printing on postcards, but this week every time I go to print a postcard from tray 1 the printer keeps getting stuck on a "cleaning" error.  Sometimes this results in the postcard successfully being printed, but most often this results in a jam where I have to remove the card from the back of the printer, the printer will then print from tray 2, and then I have to try the card from tray 1 again and hope it goes through.

I've done the whole bit of unplugging the printer, messing with the paper tray settings so that they're showing "heavy" as the paper type but I'm still having this issue.  And this issue so far is only when I'm printing on postcards from tray 1- all other print jobs I've done have been fine.

Any suggestions for how to go about  fixing this?  Thanks!

Is it possible that you have a size mismatch between the hardare settings for the tray on the printer and your software? If the printer thinks that it has applied toner where there is no media it may trigger a cleaning to remove toner from the belt.

Thanks - but I've tried that and I still run into that cleaning error issue.
