Hie friends,

I have Hp 3035 which is printing properly when using tray 1 but it continuously prints bank pages when I use tray 2. What might be the cause of this?

Thanks for help.

Welcome to HP support community.

Which operating system is installed on the computer to which this computer is connected?

How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?

Meanwhile:

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector and printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Reply with the requested information for more assistance.

Cheers.

Hallo Sandytechy20,

I tried to do as instructed above but no to avail.

Ofcourse my computer is using windows 8 and I use USB to connect printer to computer.

The printer behaves as above not only when I am printing from computer but when I am copying as well. Even when I just close the front door only without commanding  a copy. When I copy from the scanner glass, the printer starts picking up papers even before the scanner finishes scanning. Then it releases blank pages. Both trays are now doing the same.

is it to do with solenoids?

It could well be a problem with a sticky solenoid, there is a foam pad in the solenoids that deteriorates with age and turns sticky, (tarry).

The Solenoid is not easily accesible, here's the steps to get to it:

Remove the following components:

All covers

Fax accessory

Disk drive

Formatter

Stapler

Right-side fan

ECU, (Engine Control Unit)

High-voltage power supply

Gear Assembly

Then remove one screw that holds the Solenoid Assembly to the frame and lift the Assembly off the chassis

I do not think a Firmware Upgrade will help
