My HP windows 7 desktop keeps losing the connection to my parallel Laserjet . The only solution seems to be to disconnect & reinstall the computer.  This works for a short time & then disconnects again.   This originally did not happen - some auto software upgrade or something has caused this ti happen.  This disconnect seems to happen in a shorter and shorter period of time.  Any solutions or recommendations? email [Personal Information Removed].  Thank You

When it happens Restart the Print Spooler to see if it helps.

Do you have an actual parallel port on your PC or are you using a USB-Parallel adapter. I have found the reliability of that connector type poor and usually advise clients to purchase a Parallel-Network adapter such as an external HP Jet Direct or models from Startech or TP-Link.

If USB check the USB settings in device manager and make sure that Windows cannot turn the power off to that port.

Thank you for your response - my feeling was it had something to do with the  USB-Parallel adapter
