Hey @ian42,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you are having some issues with printing from your Windows 10 PC to your Laserjet P1102w Printer. I can help you with that.
To start, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once done:
- If the printer is connected to your PC through a USB cable, remove it.
- In your search bar type in printers and open Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
- Click on Remove Device.
- Repeat for any other icon of your printer listed.
Now to test if the printer is functional, press and hold the x button down on the printer for about ten seconds. Please let me know if anything prints. Once I know if this prints, I will be better able to assist you.

Alright, to narrow down the issue, is the printer connected to the PC through a USB cable or over a wireless network?

Hey @ian42,
Seems odd that disabling the printer and re-enabling via the ePrint Center allows you to print from your computer. Are you printing via ePrint, or are you trying to print from a program on the computer using the Print command? If you are not printing using ePrint and are simply printing from the computer with the standard print command, I suggest removing the print driver from the printer server properties and from the Devices and Printers and re-adding it again. The following steps will help you with this:
1. In the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder
2. Choose ‘Print server properties’.
- Win XP – With no printer selected, click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
- Windows Vista – With no printer selected, press ‘Alt’ then click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
- Windows 7/8, 8.1, and 10 – Select any printer in the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder and click ‘Print Server properties’ above.
3. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab at the top of ‘Print server properties’ window
4. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click ‘Remove’
5. Choose 'Remove driver only'
6. The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click ‘Yes’ to say that you are sure you want to do this.
If documents are stuck in the print spooler, you may see an error, cancel any documents pending in the print queue, or try restarting the print spooler, then try to remove the driver from ‘Print server properties’ again. If it still won’t remove the package, restarting the computer and the printer should resolve this ‘in use’ error and allow the driver to be removed.
- If the you continue to get an 'in use' message follow the steps in the document here; The Specified Printer Driver is Currently in Use
After the driver is removed, open Start > All Programs > HP folder > Printer folder > HP Setup and Software (or the printer icon). The Setup and software screen will open and you can click on Connect a new printer.
Let me know if this resolves the issue or if you require further assistance. I'm happy to help if there is anything else I can to to assist you.
