I have the alternate tray set up for photo printing (4x6) but the printer does not print - the photo paper comes through but nothing is printed on it

@DC9020, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

  • Are you able to print on regular paper?
  • Does the print preview look good before sending the print job to the printer?
  • Are you using the supported photo paper type and size to print?

Meanwhile, refer to the document HP Printers - How to Print Photos (Mac)  for help with printing photos.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for responding.

I am able to print in colour on regular paper in Tray 2.

The print preview looks perfect.

The tray is set up for 4x6, with photo paper. The printer makes sounds like it is printing and there are black roller lines on the back, but nothing on the glossy photo paper side.

Set up is as per the link....

Hope you can resolve

@DC9020

Try a different photo paper and see if that helps.

Refer to the  Product Specifications for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 All-in-One Printer (1MR69C) for supported paper types.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
