On light illuminated; screen dark; and printer won't respond in any way.

HP Recommended

Hi. I have an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw, purchased about a year ago. First the wireless connection failed, but I connected my computer (MacBook Pro) to the printer with a USB cable. Sometime later, the screen failed; it is completely dark, and I can't get it to work by turning the printer on/off. Now the printer does not seem to respond at all, though the "On" button in illuminated. Will not print, gives no error messages on the computer, screen still dark, no sounds, no signals, just an illuminated On button. Help!

Hi @kahnpl

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

As the printer display screen is not responding, we cannot perform any troubleshooting steps. Kindly contact the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
