This has been an ongoing annoyance and would seem to be a driver issue that HP never addresses, but...here goes...btw, current driver is v6.9. ALL print jobs queued to this printer under OS X always take forever to clear from the queue long after printing. Instead, they leave behind a false error message of "Printing - Couldn't open fifo (2)". A search has found nothing to provide details of the true meaning of the error message, as it really is nonsensical. Eventually, but not always (see below), the message will clear.
Also, sometimes, especially when queuing multiple documents in succession, the first job in the queue NEVER clears, thus causing a backup in the queue that is virtually impossible to clear. This forces me to delete jobs and start over, carefully printing and monitoring one at a time...not a desirable state at all!
Anyone have an explanation for or resolution to this? Thanks!

Step 2: Remove the printer and add the printer.
- Go to the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences
- Click Printers & Scanners or Print & Scan.

to delete the printer.
- Click the plus sign
, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer.
- Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.
(Note: For printers connected on Wireless select AirPrint or Secure Airprint)
