Hi Rossco,
The first, search and download "upd-pcl6-x64-6.0.0.18849.exe" file (version 6.0.0.18449) at:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/UPD/hp-upd-6.0.0.18849/
Then you need to uninstall the existing drivers for the printer completely from Windows and try follow these steps (fully and excactly):
- Turn off your printer.
- Go to Control panel/Programs and feature, select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control Panel/Devices and printer, select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Restart your computer.
- Click the bottom-left "Start" button on desktop, type "Device manager" in the search box and tap "Device Manager" on the menu.
- Once in "Device manager", click on the "View" tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
- Then from the "Device manager" list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “Uninstall” – In the confirm device uninstall popup, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
- Also, check the entries under "Printer queue" and "Imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
- Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to “Drivers” and remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to “Hewlett Packard” folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
- Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button. It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (you might not be able to delete all the files).
- Now restart your computer again.
- Run "upd-pcl6-x64-6.0.0.18849.exe".
- Turn on the printer and wait some minutes to windows find and know your printer.
- Next, restart your computer again.
- Now go “Devices and Printers” again, if you only see "HP Laserjet P2055 UPD PCL6" is finish.
Good luck!

Thank you, for your detailed reply however HP support rang me yesterday with the same synopsis and all's working fine now, its worth saying this issue arose after updating from Windows 10 (32bit) to Windows 10 (64bit). Not sure I understand why other than it was a drver issue...
Much appreciate your input as I'm sure this has or will effect others

Hi,
Thank you for the reply.
Almost old printers have problem when upgrade from windows 32 bit to 64 bit (or after windows 64 bit upgrade new version). So, you have to uninstall then reinstall driver for your printer.
Good bye.

I am having the same issue. I followed all the steps you provided and I still am having no luck. When I reinstall the printer, it automatically installs the driver version 61.210.1.22695. When I run the correct version that you provided, it installs as a separate printer and does not give me permissions to manage the printer, the drivers or anything else. Any idea what I may be doing wrong? This is causing a huge issue for me. If I print a photo, they are mirror image, but they are also divided like puzzle pieces. So strange. HELP!
Thanks so much,
Cindy

You wrote 'it automatically installs the driver version 61.210.1.22695...'. (version 6.5.0.22695) but my solution is version 6.0.0.18449.
So if your PC running windows 64 bit, please retry 18 steps in my post and note turn off printer and disconnect network LAN/WAN before do them.
Good luck!
