We have this printer hooked up via ethernet on our office network in a small family owned business.  We just upgraded one of our computers from a Windows 7 box to a Windows 10 box.   One program we use for the business sends two files that are listed in the queue as 1.24KB and N/A the pages.  On this program it will take two minutes for these files to clear the queue before the report prints.  This did not happen in the WIndows 7 box.  Support at the Vendor where we purchased the program says that he cannot find a solution and that most printers ignore those files without any pages.   I have tried reinstalling the drivers both automatically from Windows 10 and uninstalled that and loaded from the downloaded drivers from HP support.  Nothing seems clear this.  This slow printing can be a problem especially when we are dealing with customers who do not want to wait minutes while our system is printing.

Check the port type. Windows loves to set the driver to print on a WSD port and these do not always work. Better to configure a standard TCP/IP port and use that.

Thanks for your reply.  I have checked the port and it is set to TCP/IP.  I have even tried reinstalling the driver and manually setting up the port and that does not alleviate this issue.

This problem is one that only occurs with one specific program which we use in our business.  When we print a detailed invoice from that program there are two small files that appear in the printing queue that show under the number of pages N/A, which indicates to me that there are actually no pages in these files.  In Windows 7, the other work station here is still a Windows 7 box, those files just disappear almost immediately from the queue.  On this Windows 10 box each of those files take a minute to clear from the queue.

Every other program sends only one file to the queue and they print immediately.  Unfortunately, support from the vendor whom we have purchased this program from has been unable to provide us with a solution, saying after working on this issue remotely for about an hour that most printer ignore those files.  This program is one we have been using for years, and we are pretty dependent upon it.
