LaserJet Pro MFP M225dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dn has been stuck at Initializing screen for the last week.

I have tried every troubleshooting suggestion through the forums but still not working.

Ready and warning lights flashing

Firmware version: 20180205
Connected directly to wall outlet (no surge protector)

I have done:

Hard reset

Cold reset

Removed cartridge and reset

Factory reset

NVRAM reset

computer will not recognize printer connected via USB or as a network connected printer.

when connected to the network it will not assign a IP address (DHCP enabled).

Assuming it is going to come down to a hardware issue but willing to try additional troubleshooting steps if anyone knows of any?

Follow up, after troubleshooting further (taking the printer appart) I idneitfied that the printer was hung up on initializing the scanner. Researching into this I stumbled onto the following "If you open the flatbed cover, you will see that the LIGHT bar is all the way at the end and it won't move back. Use STAR-shade screwdriver to remove screws around the rim. There are 2 screws under the plastic rim (different size). Lift the glass cover slightly and move the Light Bar to the middle. Close the glass cover and turn on the power." Performing this resolved the issue.

Hi! @pengtech89, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand your printer is stuck at initializing screen.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

I appriciate your efforts for trying out the steps before reaching out to us.

Try the steps recommended below.

Turn on the printer.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
   NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.

If the issue still persists try performing a super NVRAM reset on your printer and check if it helps.

Since the steps to perform super NVRAM reset is confidential, I will send you the steps in private message. Please watch your inbox for more information.
