the most common cause of print defects on HP printers is an issue with the cartridge. First trouble shooting step should always be to inspect the cartridge to see if there is leaking toner or problems with the drum. Turn the cartridge over and carefully move the shutter that covers the drum unit and see if the defects appear on the drum unit as well. Try another cartridge. If you post a sample it might help us provide more detailed advice.
