Hi folks I have an old but until recently functioning hp laser jet 2055d printer which connected via usb only.

 

during a printer move the USB port got damaged and the formatter board needs replacing/repairing.

 

i noticed when looking online that the only difference visually between network version and usb version boards appears to be presence of network port. 

 

My my question is can I upgrade my printer to network version by fitting network formatter board.  

I can see that  firmware may be an issue but thought I would ask question.
