LaserJet Pro M404dn
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and older

I have two M404 and one M402. All three of these printers are connected to a terminal server via TCPIP ports and printing to them is very slow, it can be as long as 45 seconds between clicking print and the job printing.

I have many other printers of all types connected to same terminal servers, HP, Lexmark, Xerox, Brother, and none of them exhibit this problem.

Terminal servers are 2008 and 2012.

What is the fix for this issue?

Thank you.

An easy step is connect a laptop to those printers bypass your network.  See how the printing goes with a hard connection.

that way you can determine if its the machine or your network.

You may need to reinstall those HP printers with a more up to date driver I would also update the firmware.

make sure you update the driver on your server if your using that to push the update out.  Avoid Universal driver as well

I forgot to mention that the printers are brand new, sorry.

It's not the network or the term servers as there are multiple other printers that don't have this problem.

This is a problem that is specific to the M40x series and HP has to know about it.

Hopefully one of their tech support will be good enough to post the fix.

Through clients we have lots of these deployed over terminal services without issue. Contrary to another poster, best performance is with the UPD driver in most cases.
