I get a verticle line running an inch or so from the margin when I copy from the feeded.  THis problem does not occur when I print from the computer or when I copy bt laying the paper to be copied on the glass.  (BTW, it is totally bogus that HP charges to speak to a customer service rep.)

This video shows proper cleaning procedures to fix vertical streaks on scans. This video shows the HP Color LaserJet Pro but the steps are similar for any product with an ADF. Take special note that many models have a plastic film over the ADF slit glass which must not be removed. If removed the ADF will jam and you would need to replace it.
