Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

The installation software that came with the printer requires OS 10.7 or less, and the CD is refused my my OS 10.11.6. HP's easy start cannot see the printer's wifi. I have tried a hard start. Many times. That has worked in the past. I cannot find installer software online for my OS.

@RobertJB,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!

The Printer drivers are no longer available from HP.

You can add the printer to your MAC using Apple software update.

  • Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

  • Click Printers & Scanners or Print & Scan.
  • If your printer is listed, click the name of your printer, then click the minus signhttps://support.hp.com/doc-images/161/c01861703.gif to delete the printer.
  • Click the plus signhttps://support.hp.com/doc-images/466/c03678294.gif, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer.
  • Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.

( For printers connected on Wireless select AirPrint or Secure Airprint)

  • Click Add to add the printer to the list.
  • Try to print.

Hi,

If your printer is not yet connected to the wireless network it will need to be installed and connected to the wireless network first.

Connect the printer to your Mac with a USB and confirm any prompt to install its software from Apple Software Update as described below:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04510394

Next, follow the below steps to change to wireless connection from the HP Utility application:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03418489

If you cannot locate the HP Utility open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and double click the printer, then click on Printer Settings.

Within the Utility tab click Open Utility to access the HP Utility application, once converting to wireless connection click the Plus sign and you should now be able to add the printer using AirPrint.

@Shlomi. Your instructions and first link led me to HP Easy Start. Nothing I seem to do allows that utility to recognize the printer, with or without the USB connector. So, I've tried downloading and installing hewlettpackardprinterdrivers 5.1. That was an astonishing 956.8 MB. The specs seemed to allow it to work with my OS X 10.11.6. and include my Laserjet CP1025nw. Neither Easy Start, nor my Mac Preferences for Printing and Scanning recognizes the printer (so, I cannot add it). I've tried a hard start, and using and disconnecting the USP cable. Still dead in the water. Even if wireless cannot work, I'd like to be able to print somehow, even using the USB cable.

- Thanks

@ATHARVA_GP ,  as you may have seen in my previous post, I cannot see the cp1025nw with Apple Preferences, with or without the USB cable attached.

Thanks

Is the ptinter connected to the wireless network or not? A solid blue light indicates a connection.

How long is the USB cable?

Ensure it is directly connected to your Mac, without using any USB hub or extension. ensure it is not longer than 2 meters long.

If you may have an iMac, ensure it is connected to a USB port at the back of the screen and not through an Apple USB keyboard port which isn’t powered.

Another USB cable should be tried as well.

Hope that may help,

Shlomi

  • The USB cable is just a few cm short of 2m. For this project I am using a brand new USB cable, and Yes, I plugged it in directly to the back of the iMac.
  • At the moment the printer is not connected to anything except the USB cable (when it is plugged in). For years it has been on my local wifi. In fact, it was in another room on another floor. Now it is beside my desk. It is about 8 feet away from my wifi router.
  • The blue light sometimes winks, but lately I don't see it lit, and pushing its button does  not do anything.
