Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have faded black print on only the right side of a page on my cp4005.  Have tried multiple black cartridges to no avail.  When I print the print quality trouble shooting pages the colored pages are crystal clear.

Check your black toner cartridge to make sure it is seating fully into its slot and not angled out on one side compared to the other.

Next, remove the toner cartridges from the printer and look at the laser window for the black toner cartridge. There should be a metal shutter that is closed over it. Check the shutter mechanism that opens it to make sure it is opening fully all the way across. I've seen where one side opens, but the other doesn't, so it blocks part of the laser beam. Also, check the laser glass lens that sits behind the shutter for any contamination and clean it if there is any. Sometimes toner dust will contaminate the back side of the glass lens and you have to remove the laser unit to open it up and clean it.

Check the image transfer belt to make sure the rollers that sit behind it are not out of position for the black. If it is, you'll need to replace the belt assy.
