From the printer control panel run the Print Quality diagnostics print. If the line is on every page then most often it is a problem with the transfer belt. If it is a single color then the corresponding cartridge is the problem. We have also had issues where the label on the cartridge shutter comes loose and drags on the transfer belt, causing a print defect.
