So this is a new printer....I've printed (as recent as today) text and images in black and white. I have an image that I'm fighting with that continues to appear in gray instead of B&W.

I've done the Printer Properties->Factory defaults (which I don't really want to reset - just for this image)->Print in Grayscale set to Black only.

Printer Properties->General Everyday Printing->Print in Grayscale set to Black only.

Printer Properties->General Everyday Printing->Color (tab)->Color Options I've tried both manual and automatic->Print in Grayscale set to black only. It's not a photograph but I set Photographs to black only. Everything else on that dialog is black only.

Under color themes RGB color I've done "none" and default.

Even though it's not text, I did ...->Advanced ->Print All Text as Black.

The image, in all the above scenarios from 2 different laptops, continues to print in gray. I put some text the last few times to see if the black was really working. the text was black, the image gray. Holy cow man - this has to be simpler. What am I missing?

It's an image on an 8 1/2"x11" page printing to a standard letter format (I confirmed as I knew my wife's would be A4 and I swapped it. My machine is Windows 10 64-bit hers is Windows 10 32-bit.

Convert the image to a pdf and print as black only. It may be that the driver cannot print an image format file as black only.

Interesting. didn't solve it though, unfortunately.

Which driver are you using to print, the model specific (discrete driver) or the HP Universal Print driver? If you have not tried the HP UPD driver I would highly recommend it. You may also want to try the Post Script driver if you are using PCL right now.
