Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Mfp m477 printer connected to ProBook 4720 laptop via usb.  Physically connected and powered on but not detected.  At one time it was connected wirelessly but that is another story. Tried HP's virtual help but that just ran me in circles and was no help at all. Just want to print some invoices so I can bill for work done.

I have a very respectable IQ but am at least 2 generations too old to be tech savvy and really not interested in changing! HELP

If the device is not detected the two most likely causes are a bad USB cable, yes they do fail. Second is a corrupted usb device settings. Try a different cable, if that does not resolve the issue, disconnect the printer from the computer and then on your pc you need to go to device manager, show hidden devices, locate the printer and right click and select uninstall device. Restart your PC and go through the installation again and printer should be detected as a new device.
