Hi, I have a similar problem. When I try to scan from the flat bed I am getting a message up which says 'Automatic Document feeder is empty' - but I am NIOT using the ADF..... I have adjusted paper and tried again to no avail.

This has never happened since I biought the printer - but has started since my iMac had an OS Catalina update two days ago - cannot scan at all now!! Can you help please.

same problem here:

 

Automatic Document Feeder is Empty

No items were detected in the Automatic Document Feeder. Please place your originals into the Automatic Document Feeder and start the scan again.

 

I tried setting scanner to input flatbed, but also doenst work......

What model Hp printer are you using?

Which application are you using to scan from your MAC?

HP Easy Scan is not yet supported on macOS 10.15

 

For now, let us try these steps to resolve this issue: 

 

Update the printer firmware

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Kindly use Apple Image capture to scan

Click here to know how to scan using Apple Image Capture.

That happened when my iMac install macOs Catalina Version 10.15

When are you going to fix that problem with your software HP Easy Scan

HP Easy Scan is not yet supported with 10.15 Catalina. Instead, you can use Apple Image Capture. A compatible version of HP Easy Scan should be released soon.
