I used old laptop (MacOS) any MacOS will work below 10.14 i think. I used 10.14 and updated Firmware to 20180302.I have downloaded firmware from https://www.hp-file.net/hp-laserjet-pro-cp1025nw-color-driver/. and it works fine.

I think these is last one release by HP.
@Kumar0307 , Is there any way HP can make it compatible with future version of MacOS ?

Hi @DIPT

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand you are getting a filter failed error while trying to print from the MAC. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Check for any software updates on MAC

Make sure the printer is installed using AirPrint driver:

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name with Bonjour multifunction under kind.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@DIPT, thank you for the detailed response.

Kindly check and confirm the model of the printer you are using.

Is it a HP LaserJet Pro CP1025nw Color Printer or a HP LaserJet Pro CP1025 Color Printer?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

HP LaserJet Pro CP1025 is not wireless capable and is not AirPrint compatible.

Refer to this document to know the product specifications of both these printers.

Keep me posted.

It seems like the gatekeeper is blocking the required update on your MAC.

In System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, then click General. Click the lock and enter your password to make changes.

Select App Store under the header “Allow apps downloaded from.”

Note: Leave this window open until the updates are installed on the MAC.

For more info, kindly refer to this document.

To know how to update the MAC, click here

Once the updates are installed, you may try installing the printer using AirPrint driver as mentioned in my previous post.

Let me know how this goes.

Thanks @KUMAR0307,

I have tried the same, but there are no drivers available from Mac OS 10.15. THe latest is available for 10.13 and they don't work.

Also as per the post

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/Filter-Failed-message-in-OS-X-Mojave-and-now-in-OS-X...

Is Mac OS Catalina not supported ?

I eventually was able to contact HP support and speak with a live engineer, who, after 2 hours of phone communication answered saying that the HP Laser Jet CP1025 will not work with Catalina.

The printer is only meant to work with 32-bit operating systems and HP will not make it 64-bit compatible with a software update.

If anyone finds a solution or writes a 64-bit update, please post it here!

HP LaserJet Pro CP1025 is not compatible with macOS 10.15. However, you are using a HP LaserJet Pro CP1025nw color printer that is AirPrint compatible.

We can use the AirPrint drivers to install the printer on the macOS 10.15.

You may refer to this document to check the AirPrint compatible printers.

Since we do not get an option of AirPrint driver, kindly contact Apple support as Airprint drivers are provided by Apple.

Keep me posted.
