Thicker papers can cause problems if they're not within the specifications of what the printer can handle.

Here are the paper specifications:

U.S. Standard:

16 to 43 lb (Uncoated/Matte, recommended), however up to 47 lb Postcards and 53 lb HP Matte is allowed in the driver;

16 to 43 lb (Coated/Glossy, recommended), however up to 47 lb Postcards and 59 lb HP Glossy is allowed in the driver.

Metric:

60 to 163 g/m² (Uncoated/Matte, recommended), however up to 175 g/m² Postcards and 200 g/m² HP Matte is allowed in the driver; 60 to 163 g/m² (Coated/Glossy, recommended), however up to 175 g/m² Postcards and 220 g/m² HP Glossy is allowed in the driver.

Most current HP printers do not support this option. I think you will find the printer will not come to ready with the back door open

This printer does not support that option. The rear door is only for access to remove paper in case of a jam. Like Repairatrooper stated, few printers nowadays support a straight-thru paper path. There are a couple still out there, but hard to find. Older printers were more designed for that option.

Ok, too bad, it can't make a straight path,

That leads to the critical question, how thick/stiff papers can it run?

I suppose feeding thicker papers leads to paper jam

But I have not been able to find data on that, where is it?

Thanks !

Now I have what I need, have to watch limits on thick papers.

I like this printer a lot!
