I currently have a HP M1212nf MFP & am considering buying a new unit HP M148DW. The current unit needs to be connected to my wifi router in order to print wirelessly. Just wanted to confirm, the new one I am consering does not? On the new one I just need to plug into power & usb to the computer & doesnt need to plug into wifi router. Is that correct?

Hi,

You are correct, the M148w offer USB, Ethernet or Wifi connection capabilities, meaning you may install the printer on your computer with a temporary USB connection to set up wireless, then only keep the power cable to power on the printer.

For a stable wireless connection ensure the printer is not located too far away from the router, but not closer than 2 meters (6feet) away).

Also making sure you're aware that the M148dw model offers print, scan, and copy capabilities, it does not offer fax capabilities as the M1212nf offered.
