I'm testing external authentcation for a Group series codec using AD groups.

I followed the Polycom guide that shows you have to enable LDAP as the directory server, then enable external authentication.

This process works, but my question is why do we have to use LDAP for the directory server?  I've tested flipping the directory server back to Polycom GDS, which is preferred for our deployment, and external auth seems to still work.  Should I expect external auth to fail at some point?

Polycom Group Software - HF - 6.1.3_05-390060

Thanks

Sean
