VSX 7000e microphone not working

We recently purchased a replacement unit from eBay to get our school system back up and running until our other unit can be fixed. Everything works expect the ceiling microphone. The system gives us a green arrow for the mic being connected, but nothing is being picked up while using the Audio Meter. Any ideas?

I hate to ask an obvious question... Was the other system a VSX or HDX that is getting repaired ?

As I can remember VSX ver. 8.7.1 brought some major alteration in mic technics. The new mics are not supported by the old versions and vice versa.

How do I upgrade to 8.7.1? Is that free or paid?

I looked more attentively in my older notes and found:

1. The alteration in ver. 8.7.1 had a deal with tabletop mics only.

2. There were two kind of ceiling mics - 'old' (P/N 2215-22639-001(200)) and 'new' (P/N 2215-23775-001)

3. The description for 'new" ceiling mics notes: "VSX Ceiling Microphone Array:  Black Spherical Array with 2'/60cm drop cable, Electronics Interface with Mounting Hardware, Wall Plate with 10'/3m cable, 30'/9m & 50'/15m plenum cables.  Compatible with VSX only. Requires Software version 8.5.3 or later."

So for the first step try to update your system to ver. 8.5.3. This is free for the system with ver. 8.5.x. The needed S/W can be found >>> here <<<. Hope this can help.

Check the monitor settings on web interface.
