Where are the Lights on PCRP G500 Remote Control

Hi,

I am trying to reset the channel on the remote control for a Polycom RealPresence Group 500 unit as it no longer communicates with the unit.

According to the Administrator's Manual:

1. While blocking the IR signal from the remote control using your hand or some other object, press and hold <MUTE> and <ANSWER> for 2-3 seconds.
2. After the red LED on the remote control comes on, release both keys. The LED remains lit for 10 seconds.

3. While the LED is lit, enter a 2-digit ID between 00 and 15. If you do not enter the ID during the 10 seconds the LED is lit, the LED flashes six times and you must repeat steps 1 and 2. Be sure to enter the ID during the next 10-second window.
4. If the channel ID is saved successfully, the LED flashes twice. Otherwise, the LED flashes six times and you must repeat steps 1 - 3.

Where is this LED supposed to be? I cannot find any LED on the remote control!

It is the IR transmitters, in the end of the remote that you point toward the system.

You mean the end of the remote that you are supposed to close with your hand to block the signal?If you have closed the end off with your hand, how are you supposed to see the light?

One should never look into an IR transmitter because it could damage your eyes!

How does the IR transmitter change colour from red to green?

The LED is in the same location, it is not the IR transmitters.

My apologies if I come across as being pedantic but please tell me how are you supposed to see the LED if you have closed the end off with your hand?

Good points.  The goal is to block the IR so it does not get to the system at one point, you can use your hand "or some other object" to accomplish that. 

Simply cupping your hand in front of the remote accomplishes that.
