@TheVikingDane

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
The Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I understand you want information on overclocking,

HP has locked a few settings on your computer which are being managed by the system configuration and under or overclocking is one of them.

There's no way of resetting or changing these locked settings and forcing changes on your own would void the warranty.

I hope you understand.

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That’ll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Yes you can overclock and HP covers it under warranty. Here is my thread http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/HP-says-use-Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-for-overclocki... Other links that HP confirms.

The problem is. You CANNOT overclock properly using the bios. Which is what you want to use when doing any cpu overclocking. HP wants you to use XTU software based overclocking and it is NO GOOD. Don't use that software.

Software based cpu overclocking is never EVER a good thing to use. Always bios. But HP only added a boolean in the bios. You cannot adjust voltage from bios. So you cannot properly overclock.

If you are in a return window. I might encourage you to return it if you are dead set on overclocking. Or want to do it in the near future. Because currently. HP is selling these machines advertsing overclocking and you cannot actually do it properly with in the bios.
