HP Omen Not being able to run the newest games

HP Recommended
Omen Notebook PC 15
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hi guys, I purchased a HP Omen laptop just recently and some of the newest games that have been released I haven't been able to play, such as Star wars Battlefront, Fallout 4 ect.

What happens to these games when I start them up I either just get a loading screen and a crash, or it will just lag the entire time i play. Constant freezing.

My graphics drivers are up to date the laptop has a gtx 860M which should be able to run these games, I even try to start them in low settings but they lag regardless, games such as counter strike and league of legends are fine.

Please help this problem has been ongoing for months now. I am strongly considering taking this laptop back and swapping it out but everything else is perfect besides this problem, but this is suppose to be a gaming laptop.

Thanks.

The HP Omen is fine for gaming.

I have an Omen and have finished Fallout 4 on it, (I have not tried Battlefront however.) and use it daily and it can handle everything I throw at it.

My problem with Fallout was with the nVidia drivers. (I don't recall the version I am on now.)

As always, ensure everything is up to date with a WIndows Update et al.

I'd recommend jumping up to Windows 10 aswell to see if that helps.

Hi Alex

Have the same Omen running WIN8.1 and get the same issues.

Recently i have found that the intergrated graphics thinks it's better than the GTX860M and tries to run everything with no success, this generally happens straight after a windows update.

I deleted Nvidia Experience off my machine and set the GTX to be the default path globally in NVIDIA control panel (select what you can to application controlled), so far this works for me.

Other than that, check the basics, drivers ect..

There is no reason your OMEN shouldn't be able to play 99% of the games out there.

Happy gaming

Could be a hardware failure that makes it use the iNtel HD instead of the Higher power Graphics. This would be why a OMEN can't run newer games.
