Hp omen 15 ax208nl (kaby lake)

Hi,
I have some questions:

1) Can i change the 1tb sata hdd with a ssd m2 (nvme) ?
2)If true, does it effect on the warranty ?
3) Is what we said valid also on different versions of omen laptops ( such as ax217nl or ax206ng for example ) ?

Thank you very much !

@slivero

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you want to learn about changing or upgrading your hardware,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Is this the first time you are using the HP Forums? If yes, Click here to know more about using/editing it.

Did you check the product user manual or service guide?

If you haven't, Click here to view the service manual guide & perform a keyword search using CTRL+F to look up NVME as the motherboard supports two variants: PCIe NVMe Three Level Cell (TLC) M.2 solid-state drive (SSD) of either 256GB OR 512GB.

Your hard drive contains two storage devices, one the HDD & the other SSD (NVME) you will be using both at the same time, so you don't have to change.

Keep me posted for further assistance 😉

Thanks for your answer!

What i wish to know is exacly this:

about pre-installed HDD : can i change the HDD with a ssd nvme tlc ( pcie slot!! ) or just with a sata3 ssd?

about pre-installed SSD : can i change ths SSD with a new bigger one, type nvme ? or am i forced to use sata3 type?

thanks in advance! 🙂

@slivero

Thank you for replying 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

The link I had shared earlier, had all of this information, here's the link again for your reference: Click here to view the service manual guide

That said, the hard drive can be changed to an SSD but HP doesn't recommend it, please find below the setup configuration recommended by HP:

Single hard drive configurations (supported)

1 TB (7200) 9.5 mm

2 TB (5400) 9.5 mm

Hard drive +SSD configurations (supported)
1 TB (7200) 9.5 mm hard drive + 512 GB PCIe Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) Triple Level Cell (TLC) M.2 SSD

1 TB (7200) 9.5 mm hard drive + 256 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD

1 TB (7200) 9.5 mm hard drive + 128 GB M.2 SATA-3 SSD (Value)

2 TB (5400) 9.5 mm hard drive + 128 GB M.2 SATA-3 SSD (Value)

And the PCIe NVME SSD supported configuration has been mentioned in my previous post, I hope that answers your question,

Keep me posted for further assistance 😉

Thanks !
So, do you confirm the motherboard on this ax208nl supports both pcie and sata for ssd ? I would buy it only if i can change the pre-installed 128 gb sata ssd with a pcie (nvme) one, otherwise i have to look for a different version.

Thank you ! 🙂
