The HTC VIVE.
The laptop has a graphics card that is an i7 900/ I have heard that you need at least a 980, so if the 980 is true, how hard would an upgrade be? If it's even possible.
Thank you for any time spent on my issue! Stacy

Hello Stacy,

Im sorry to say your system will not work.

It looks like you have a CTO model with a 2nd gen i7 CPU and an AMD Radeon HD 6490M discrete graphics card.

Almost all laptops cannot be upgraded with newer graphics cards to begin with.

If you went shopping for a new laptop now with "currently available hardware", you would need at least a GTX 1060 graphics card, Intel Core i5-7300HQ or greater and 8 GB of ram minimum (according to Nvidia).

Example of an HP 17 inch laptop that comes with a 1060 or 1070 (currently the 15 inch only comes with 1050/ti)...
