HP PAVILION 23-q014
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

HELLO! DOES ANYONE HAVE THE ANSWER TO THIS?  I CANNOT GET MY HP ALL IN ONE TO RECOGNIZE MY XBOX 1 SYSTEM USING THE AVAILABLE HDMI PORT!  THIS QUESTION SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN ON THE FORUM BOARDS BEFORE, BUT NOT ANSWERED FOR THIS HP SYSTEM.

THE GAME CONSOLE WORKS FINE ON MY OTHER LARGE SCREEN TV'S WITH WIRELESS CONNECTIONS AND HDMI INTEFACE, BUT NOT ON MY COMPUTER/MONITOR.

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

Hi there @SWGPAG,

May the Forums be with you!  I understand that you are trying to use your All-in-One computer as a display with your console.  I am happy to assist you with this.

Some All-in-One computers have that capability, and others do not. Looking at the HP Pavilion 23-q014 TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC Product Specifications, there is no indication that the one HDMI port is an input, nor is there a button to toggle the system to disable the internal connection to the display and use an external signal.  So that model will not take an external signal for its display.

I realize it is not the answer you were looking for, but it appears to be the case with that hardware, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Thanks for your response, but in essence what you're saying is the existing HDMI i/o port is simply a blank, and won't accept any external signal from anything!  Then why is it there at all?

I purchased this particular system because it offered an existing HDMI connection which could accept either a game console, second monitor,  or any other device requiring an HDMI signal/interface.

With all respect, I'd appreciate an escalation of this question to a HP System engineer for further clarification before I trash it.

Thanks again.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

It's an HDMI --> OUT port, not HDMI In...  See page 11 of your User Guide.

It's designed so you can feed a signal to another screen (like a big screen TV set).
