HP ENVY Photo 6230
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After an automatic HP update, Envy Photo 6230 is no longer printing. My husband was in the middle of printing, and the printer stopped working. I'm using Windows 10 64 bit. In Settings, 4E-HP Envy Photo 6230 appears as standard printer which was NOT the standard printer before.  In Settings,  message appears that driver is missing for 4E-HP printer. It's connected via WiFi but error message appears that HP Envy Photo 6230 is offline when I try to print.    HP Dr scan is not working. I downloaded latest drivers. Unplugged, replugged, rebooted.

I had problems with the printer after updating to Windows 10 but resolved it (can't remember how).

Hi @TMMA

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand you are not able to print from the PC. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • Either 2.4 or 5Ghz.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Use the HP Smart app to print and scan from your Win PC

Click here to download and know more about the app.

If the issue persists,

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing in color.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
