I tried most of Friday to research for a solution as to why the black color is not printing.

1. checked that I had the most current software & drivers.

2. checked all connections, actually undid them and reconnected all.

3. I even disconnected HP 6958 for 1 hour so it would possibly reset itself.

NOTHING WORKED!

I did see a message in the print dialog box that said "Boujour malfunctions"

@ddunn20, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

What happens when you try to make a photocopy on the printer?

Have you tried printing a print quality diagnostic report on the printer? Here is how you do it-

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu

  3. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report.

A Print Quality Diagnostic Page prints.

Example of the Print Quality Diagnostic Page

If the black color is seen, it is a driver related issue. I shall provide you with additional steps to resolve the issue.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
