First, in the outside chance that it is just a connection glitch,

Restart Everything, including router, computer(s), printer, connected / dependent devices.  All of it.

No Joy?

In general, the fix is to set the printer back to Network Defaults (remove the current network information) and then simply enter the information again.

Read through and decide where to start.

The Easiest option is to use the Doctor and see if it can fix the connection.

No Connection after Router or Wi-Fi Settings Change

The  User Guide explains how to connect - and what to do when the printer is having connection problems.

There is a great deal of information available at the Wireless Center Website.

Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Printer must be on the network - it doesn't have to be able to print yet, but it does have to be "there".

Open EWS

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

A couple of examples of setting a Static IP Address

For LATER

After the printer is connected and you continue to have drop-connection, scanning, or installation problems,

consider:

If you have installation, offline, or port issues, assign a TCP/IP port for the printer.

Create TCP IP port

Example:

  • How-to “Create TCP Port” Contributed by greenturtle

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on the printer > Left-Click Printer Properties > Select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:
Create & Use TCP IP port

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)
