Does having my printer connected to an internet connection all the time use large amounts of data I'm on a capped ISP plan and seem to be using a lot of data since I added the printer on my network

HP Recommended

I do not think the printer would use much data unless you are using the ePrint feature.

Also first time setup would of used data to download firmware,
