While attempting to set up our new Deskjet 4155 printer, the printer is not recognized by the HP Smart app that was installed on the Android phone as part of the setup process.  The only printer on the list in the HP Smart app similar to ours is the 4100, but this will not allow us to complete the setup process.  Choosing the 4100 only results in "printer not found".

We purchased a USB Printer cable and used that to connect a laptop on WIN 10 to the printer.  This allowed us to do the basic printing from Word, but this still does not allow us to complete the connection of the printer to WiFi, nor does the printer show up on anyone's Bluetooth.

We purchased the printer specifically for the WiFi and Bluetooth capability.  However, we cannot get the printer connected to either one.

@David_Armstrong, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

As you have connected the printer to the computer using a USB cable, you may convert the connection to wireless. Refer to - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection.

Once the printer is on the wireless network, make sure the PC and the Android device is on the same network.

  • Either a 2.4GHz network or a 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

If the issue persists, refer to page 22 of the user guide to know how to connect the printer to the wireless network using the HP Smart app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@Alis46

Are you trying to connect the printer to an Android device?

HP Smart requires a wireless connection. It does not support USB connectivity.

Try making a copy on the printer to check its hardware functionality.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
