Hi @Milt438,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If you are receiving a message that your device is not compatible when trying to download the HP Smart app on your Samsung Galaxy S8 (running Android 9.0 Pie), here are the steps you can follow to resolve this issue:
Step 1: Check System Requirements for HP Smart App
The HP Smart app requires Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later for it to function. Since your Samsung Galaxy S8 is running Android 9.0 Pie, it should meet the app's minimum requirements. However, the compatibility issue could be related to other factors such as the app's version or a device-specific setting.
Step 2: Clear Cache and Data of the Google Play Store
Sometimes, the issue might be related to the Google Play Store itself. Try clearing its cache and data:
- Go to Settings on your phone.
- Select Apps or Apps & notifications (depending on your phone’s settings).
- Find and select the Google Play Store.
- Tap on Storage and then click Clear Cache and Clear Data.
- After clearing, restart your phone and try downloading the HP Smart app again.
Step 3: Update Google Play Store and Google Play Services
Ensure that both the Google Play Store and Google Play Services are updated to the latest versions:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Search for the Google Play Store and tap on Update if available.
- Similarly, search for Google Play Services and update it if needed.
Step 4: Download the HP Smart App from the Google Play Store Again
- Open the Google Play Store on your Samsung Galaxy S8.
- Search for HP Smart in the search bar.
- Tap on the Install button to begin downloading the app.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
