We just signed up with Frontier advantage. everything works great BUT my printer. It works plugged in by usb but can not get it to work wirelessly. Yes, i have done wps, updated my OS. I do a network test. ssid FAIL, no ip address,. On the configuration page it list my ssid(s). frontier 9792 and frontier 9792_5. I have talked to frontier, but they are useless.

Printer worked wirelessly prior to frontier on ActionTec router.  What gives???

A warm welcome to HP Community!

Since the printer is connected to your Mac using a USB cable, we can change the connection type to wireless using HP Utility. Here is how to do it:

  1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

  2. Click Printers & Scanners.

  3. Click the name of your printer, and then click Options & Supplies.

  4. Click Utility, and then click Open Printer Utility.

    Image: Open Printer Utility

  5. Click Continue, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer setup.

  6. Click Wireless Setup.

  7. Make sure your network is listed on the Confirm Wireless Settings screen, and then click Continue to complete the wireless configuration.

  8. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer and the computer.

  9. In the Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax window, click the name of your printer, click the minus sign , and then delete the USB installed printer.

Let me know how it goes!

I'm afraid, the only option left is Wireless Protected Setup(WPS). However, the router should support WPS and the router has to have a WPS button on it. If your WiFi router has a WPS button on it, the use the following steps to connect the printer to your home WiFi using WPS:

  1. On the printer control panel, press the button next to Scan, and then press the button next to Wireless Menu.

  2. Press the button next to WPS, and then press the button next to Push Button.

  3. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your wireless router.

  4. Wait up to two minutes while the printer automatically establishes a network connection with the wireless network.
