HP PageWide Enterprise 556xh

Hi

Can I connect the 556xh to both wireless and ethernet networks simultaneously?

I want desktop PCs to be able to print through the wired network but would also like wireless (e.g. iPhone/iPad) device to be able to print through a separate wireless VLAN and subnet.

Regards

Tim

No, sorry.   Only one connection to your network is allowed.  If the Ethernet is connected the wireless is disable automatically.

Either connection allows everybody to print.

Thanks for replying.

We've configured a 556dn to connect via ethernet the VLAN that is also used for wireless (so that iPad/iPhone devices can find the 556dn via Bonjour) and then allowed port 9100 through the firewall from the separate wired LAN so that Windows PC can still print on the 556dn but the Macs n the wired LAN can't print even if we reconnect the 556dn printer to socket://176.16.20.49:9100.

I was hoping the 556xh built in support for both wireless and wired connections would provide another option, but we can at least save some money and get the another 556dn rather than the 556xh since the wireless and wired c onnections won't operate simultaneously.

Any thoughts on the problems printing through the firewall from Macs on one subnet to the 556dn on another subnet would be gratefuly received though.

Regards
