Hello everyone,

I've been trying to figure out what to do, because I'm a little lost. So I'm open to advice.

My dad has a windows 7 laptop with a Simple save external 2tb hdd. He's got like 600+ gbs on the drive, but I can't figure out whats on it. The problem here, is that I need to get him on windows 10 because support for 7 ended. But the simple save software thats on the external drive, isn't going to work with windows 10.

So I can't get anything off of the drive once windows 10 is installed...

What can I do here? I could back everything up as if it was a normal hdd, but I still can't get the other 600gbs off of it.

Hi

Something like this....

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Brand-License-External-Hard-Drives/4023081/model/4023087/

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02659476

So you could try Virtual Box and install W7 inside W10 for a few hours to get the data off.

Also there is...

Compat Mode.png The possibility of running Simple Save

Software in W10  under compatibility mode, if you have a W10 machine.

Then dont use simple save again, use another backup method.
