My Hp printer will not find my Iphone 8 hotspot when searching for wireless routers. The mobile hotspot is my only internet source

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

 

HP does not recommend using a Hotspot connection. It may or may not work. If you do not have access to a wireless router, you may connect these devices using Wifi-Direct to print.

Kindly refer to this document to know how. The default password is 12345678.

Note: The iOS device will not be connected to the Internet while using Wifi-Direct.

I am able to print right now using a USB cable. I need to be able to connect to the internet with the printer for updates and I use the instant ink program which requires an internet connection. The mobile hotspot is my ONLY access to the internet. There are two phones in the house.  One is a Galaxy 9, and the printer will locate and connect to it immediately. So there is no problem using the hotspot connection for the printer and I have 60 gb of data. The problem is the other phone is an iPhone 8. The printer will never find the iPhone hotspot when searching for routers. I can enter manually the hotspot name and password and the printer will eventually find and connect to the iPhone 8. The next time I want to use the iPhone hotspot, I have to do that all over again. I’ve been in contact with Apple, there are no issues with the phone. System is up to date and all settings are like they should be.

I understand your concern. As the HP Printer is able to connect to the Hotspot provided by the Samsung phone and it is printing with the USB cable, the printer is not at fault here.

There could be some security settings on the iPhone as it is not allowing the printer to connect to it. Apple support would be able to assist you better as it is their product.

 

As mentioned in my previous post, HP does not recommend using a Hotspot connection. You may have intermittent connectivity issues.
