Thank you for posting your query regarding trouble printing in black ink. I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please share your HP unit's product number with us?

Meanwhile, check if the black ink cartridge has ink and is installed properly. If the cartridge is low or empty, replace it. You should also clean the print head, as it may be clogged. 

 

Ensure your printer settings are correct and try running a test page. If the issue persists, check if your printer drivers are up to date. 

 

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
