I want my printer to STAY AWAKE

HP Recommended
HP Envy 4520 Series
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I bought my printer in Mar 2016. Always had wireless connection so this wasn't issue. Now money an issue so have to use phone hot spot. Love the HP print program. I need my printer to stay AWAKE all the time so that HP can read my printer to know when I need ink and what my paper usage is. IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE THIS PRINTER ALWAYS BE AWAKE? Besides having a good reason, it is annoying to have to turn it on every time I send a print job to it. Thanks in advance.

Setting a static IP address should make it so that the printer will wake up by it self when you send a print job.

And all data(ink updates) will work while in sleep mode.

Try this

• Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
• Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
• Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
• Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
• Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
• Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

If you can't set the static IP that way then try this

AUTO STATIC IP

Thank you B_Will. I am sure this would def have solved my situation, however I, like the gracie dummy my family calls me, figured out what I had not done (in error,) which was causing the HP program to not be able to read my printer. For anyone that ever encounters this situation, i.g. with a hot spot or new device, don't forget you have to enter the password into the printer. A big ole DUH on my part. Thank you again.

I have done the same.

Glad to know it's working.
