This may be a dumb question, but for 30 years I have just dealt with wired network printers.   We just got our first printer here that has wireless capbabilities.   The question is...   Does the printer have to be connected to the WiFi in order to have mobile devices such as iPads be able to print to it wirelessly?   It is currently networked and connected via our Wired network.   Any help on this would be greatly apprecited.

Yes, you can use Air print

AirPrint7,17
Use to automatically find an HP printer in Wi-Fi range and print directly to an AirPrint-enabled HP printer from select apps on an iOS device running 4.2 or newer. Printer must be connected to local wired or wireless network. Included in iOS devices.
