Sorry about the board but nothing fit my problem.  Recently when I turn the surge protector on, the printer turns on.  I  am not "Connected" for instant ink or anything,  and I do not have WiFi.    My computer and printer are plugged into a surge protector. I turn it off each night, and turn the printer off before turning the surge protector off.  Even when I turn the computer on the printer does not turn on until I turn it on.  I have had this printer a little over a year and this has never happened before.  It just started this during the last week or so.  How do I stop it from turning on by itself when I turn the surge protector on?

I have gone through your Post and would like to assist

I suggest you perform a printer reset

- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Next update the Printer Firmware. You can refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Hi Krazy Toad,

Thank you so much for your reply.  I have discovered why this is happening.  Somehow the printer's WiFi got turned on and I do not have WiFi.  Since I turned it off, it does not turn on when the surge protector is turned on.

I will save your instructions should I have any other issue.

Thank you again for your reply.

Happy Holidays
