Microsoft Windows 11

In the past, I would be able to print multiple pages on both sides of a given sheet of paper without much issue simply by pressing the button to print on both sides. This option is now gone. I would rather use less paper than more. I have used this option before in the past several times, even with the same file as I am attempting to use today, but the option is now gone. Due to time constraints, I'll likely be forced to print single sided for this job in particular, but I would like to solve this issue for future use.

It is possible that I installed the update to Windows 11 between now and my last job, but I can't say for certain that is the case.

Hi,

Try following below specific version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Be sure to restart your PC and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.

Try printing and check for any change, if the same remains try printing using the newly added print queue copy (Copy1) and check for any difference.

Thank you for your quick response. However, my system gives me a message saying the link/file given cannot be downloaded securely. I do not know what to make of this, I am not terribly tech savvy in this regard.

@Mike_W5

If the browser is sensitive to https , try this one:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

What?  Same file, just edited the http to be https

You can also try using a different browser for the purpose of getting the file downloaded.

After download:  If you have ‘Admin’ control, highlight the package and “double-click” to install it,

Else

  • Open File Explorer
  • Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file  (likely Downloads)
  • Right-Click on the file / package Select Run as Administrator
  • After the software is installed:  Restart the computer and log in - the doctor will finish up after the restart.

I downloaded this program and followed its instructions, including restarting the computer. A while after the computer turned on again, a page came up to do more diagnostics, including wanting to print a test page. When I allowed this, it started printing out over a dozen pages, some of them blank, some of them with just one ascii symbol, and some with unrecognizable text, as if it was layers of text being printed on top of itself. From the first page that printed out, it seems this program tried to print one pdf but instead of printing it out as a pdf, it printed itself out as a document or some other text-based files. I tried printing it again, and the same thing happened. After skipping ahead to the next step, the program now says there's a device manager issue where it didn't detect one before. I'm not sure I want to continue using this program if it will just continue to waste paper.
