Print Anywhere

HP Recommended
Deskjet 2700 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have a single laptop and the above printer, both connected through a Smart WiFi. The HP Smart app is installed on the laptop.

I want to take the laptop out of the office and print documents to the printer. Obviously the laptop will be on a seperate WiFi when it is out of the office.

The printer is switched on and connected to the WiFi in the office.

I open the HP Smart App on the laptop when away from the office and the status of the printer is  Offline.

How do I achieve this simple requirement?

I have successfully printed while in the office.

@ChrisF2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Use the HP ePrint feature. HP ePrint is a secure cloud-based service that lets you print from anywhere with an active Internet connection. Email the document or photo you want to print directly to the printer.

Kindly refer to this document for more info - Print with HP ePrint.

If the printer is going offline, assigning a manual IP address will fix this issue.

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type and under manual alternate type (This is Google DNS server address)
